Town council to matchfund MyDeco.
Town clerk David Preston said the council recognised renovating the market was a larger job than the organisers had anticipated.
He said: “Initially, we’re looking at better lighting, better access to the top floor, better heating in the winter.
“And above all we need to create a vibrancy in the place that will attract shoppers back and help our market traders.”

Well done David Preston…….. a manager who can run the place well and who can market it within the region would now be essential if this money is not to be wasted. A revamp is one thing – but useless without getting the place full of occupied and varied stalls and pulling people in from the region – 20 miles radius. It should be marketed and run as THE alternative to the supermarkets.
